Adi Shankaracharya used to perform Manas Pooja of God Shiva daily. In this stotra he has describes how he was performing Manas Pooja. Manas mean Mind. Pooja performed in the mind is called as Manas Pooja. Normally we perform pooja in the temple or by sitting in front of God’s idol. But at the time of manas pooja devotee of God will sit quietly in dhyanam position and with concentration he sees his beloved God in front of his third eye. He will offer anything and everything (that God likes which may not be affordable to him) to the God. Since the pooja is performed in the mind with concentration and with the feeling of God’s presence in front of devotee; it is of very much importance, pious and holy. Any one can get anything he wishes, by performing manas pooja daily and becomes Godlike. Manas pooja of God Shiva is called Shiva Manas Pooja While Manas Pooja of God Vishnu is called as Vishnu Manas Pooja; Devotee can perform manas pooja of any God he believes.

I have imagined a throne of precious stones for you, cool water for you to bathe in, divine robes adorned with many jewels, sandalwood paste mixed with musk to anoint your body, jasmine and champaka flowers and bilva leaves, rare incense, and a shining flame. Accept all these which I have imagined in my heart for you, o merciful God.
Sweet rice in a golden bowl inlaid with the nine jewels, the five kinds of food made from milk and curd, bananas, vegetables, sweet water scented with camphor, and betel leaves – I have prepared all these in my mind with devotion. O lord, please accept them.
A canopy, two yak-tail whisks, a fan and a spotless mirror, a viinaa, kettledrums, a mridangA and a great drum, songs and dancing, full prostrations, and many kinds of hymns – all this I offer you in my imagination. O almighty lord, accept this as my worship of you.
You are my self; Paarvatii is my reason. My five praanaas are your attendants, my body is your house, and all the pleasures of my senses are objects to use for your worship. My sleep is your state of samaadhii. Wherever I walk I am walking around you, everything I say is in praise of you, everything I do is in devotion to you, o benevolent lord!
Whatever sins i have committed with my hands, feet, voice, body, actions, ears, eyes, or mind, whether prohibited by the scriptures or not, please forgive them all. Hail! Hail! O ocean of compassion! O great god! O benevolent lord! .. 5

Sri Dakshinamurthy Ashtakam - Shiva Sahasranamam
The power and glory of Lord Shiva pervades the cosmos and shines as consciousness in the hearts of all beings. To appewciare the divine attributes of Shiva and worship Him in the traditional manner is to attain victory in all endeavors and ultimately realise the true lord in the heart. Siva is the Supreme Being for whom even aakaasha, the subtlest of elements is a symbol. As the Vedic Rudra, he destroys darkness and evil that stand in the way of divine realization. As Dakshinamurthy, He is the supreme teacher and blesses devotees with ripeness, wisdom and mastery. As Ardhanareeswara, He is the One who shows perfect harmony between the seemingly opposite male and female elements and blesses devotees with marital bliss and happiness. As Nataraja, the dancing lord of Chidambaram, he signifies the dance of divine energy in the cosmos and in our hearts, As Maarabandhu, Shiva is the protector on the part, and function as our armour during journery. As Kaalabhairava, He helps devotes make the best use of their time and achieve the purpose of human life. As jyothrilinga, or lingas of light he manifests Himslef in various divine centres and blesses worshippers with bliss and knowledge. As Namashivaaya, the five-syllabled mantra, he is the way and guide to divinity. As Mrityunjaya, He blesses devotees with heart and long life and confers immortality. This CD comprising powerful hymns of the glorious manifestation of Lord Shiva is a sure way of unlocking the divine power and blessings of Lord Shiva.

Shiva, in temples is usually found as a phallic symbol of the 'linga', which represents the energies necessary for life on both the microcosmic and the macrocosmic levels, that is, the world in which we live and the world which constitutes the whole of the universe. In a Shaivite temple, the 'linga' is placed in the center underneath the spire, where it symbolizes the naval of the earth.
Shiva Mantra Powerful - Sri Shiva Sahasranamam Full - Mahashivratri Special Mantra - Must Listen
Listen to and chant this popular Rudramala Sri Shiva Sahasranama Stotram with Lyrics, As Mahashivratri is just around the corner, play this popular peaceful Shiva Mantra by Dr.R.Thiagarajan On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri 2017, listen and chant this famous Shiva mantra, Om Namah Shivaya which means bowing to the supreme reality, Lord Shiva; the name given to the consciousness that dwells in all. Shivaratri means the "great night of Shiva". Shivaratri is the night when Shiva is said to have performed the Tandava Nritya, or the dance of primordial creation, preservation and destruction. Shivratri is also when Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva married again. Shivratri celebrated on 13th day of Falgun month - the last month of Hindu calendar. The festival is principally celebrated by offerings of Bael leaves to Lord Shiva, all-day fasting and an all-night-long vigil. Shiva is worshiped in the form of a Lingam - a pillar often placed on a receptacle that represents female creative energy. Together it represents the union of organs, and the totality of creation. Flowers, incense and other offerings are made, while all through the day the devotees, chant the sacred Panchakshara mantra dedicated to Lord "Om Namah Shivaya". Shiva is the third god in the Hindu triumvirate. The triumvirate consists of three gods who are responsible for the creation, upkeep and destruction of the world. The other two gods are Brahma and Vishnu. Brahma is the creator of the universe while Vishnu is the preserver of it. Shiva sahasranama is a "list of a thousand names" of Shiva, one of the most important deities in Hinduism. In Hindu tradition a sahasranama is a type of devotional hymn (Sanskrit: stotra) listing many names of a deity. The names provide an exhaustive catalog of the attributes, functions, and major mythology associated with the figure being praised. The Shiva Sahasranama is found in Shiv Mahapuran and many other scriptures such as Linga Purana. As per Shiv Mahapuran when Vishnu was unable to defeat the demons after many attempts he prayed to Shiv who granted him the Sudarshan Chakra for fighting the demons.
