Scientists from the US Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory have developed a way to quickly and efficiently transform plentiful, easy-to-grow algae into crude oil which can be used in fuels and other materials. The technology is vastly more efficient than other biofuels, and the DoE is apparently already looking at reproducing the process on a commercial scale.
