China successfully launched the Chang'e-3 lunar probe early Monday morning from Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province, the director of the center announced.
The launch of China's first lunar probe Chang'e-3 was successful, Zhang Zhenzhong, director of Xichang Satellite Launch Center, announced, after the probe successfully entered earth orbit and unfolded its solar panels, paving the way for its transfer to the lunar orbit.
China has launched its first ever landing craft into orbit en route to the moon. . Report by Sophie Foster.
