Syrian state TV showed a cache of arms allegedly supplied to rebels from outside the country.
The 'find' came on a day when French President Francois Hollande called on the EU to lift its arms embargo on the country to assist anti-Assad fighters.
Hollande was in Brussels ahead of a meeting of EU leaders.
An analyst says the logic behind the decision made by Britain to mull arming the militant groups in Syria is difficult to understand as it contradicts its claims of concern over the ongoing violence in the Arab country. The comments come as Britain has reportedly sent a secret shipment of weapons to militants fighting inside Syria against President Bashar al-Assad. Last week, British Foreign Secretary William Hague announced the country's plans to provide some £13 million in assistance to insurgents in Syria. Britain has played a major role in fanning the flames of unrest in the Arab country by arming and training militants fighting against the Syrian government. Press TV has conducted an interview with Nasser al-Omrani, writer and political commentator from New York City to shed more light on the issue at hand.
