A renewed search for survivors is underway in North Wales following the discovery of a woman's body after widespread flooding.

It is thought the elderly victim was trapped in her home after the swollen River Elwy burst its banks.

Hundreds of people have been forced to evacuate from their homes across Denbighshire after
St Asaph and Rhuddlan were engulfed.

The UK Environment Agency says river levels have still to peak, threatening other cathedral cities, like York, Salisbury and Gloucester.

Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron, who on Tuesday visited flood-hit homes in Devon, has promised the government will do all it can to help victims in the worst affected areas.

Nearly a 1,000 homes across England and Wales have been flooded since the onset of severe wet weather almost a week ago.
