US President Donald Trump's executive order to allow offshore oil drilling in the Arctic Ocean has been overturned. A Federal Judge Sharon Gleason called Trump's reversal of an environmental protection policy from the Obama era "unlawful and invalid".
The ruling, which reinstates the drilling ban in much of the Arctic Ocean off of Alaska, is the result of a lawsuit brought by a coalition of environmental groups following Trump's executive order.
It is seen as a major blow to Trump's push to expand offshore oil and gas development.
