|Fire rips through Saddleworth Moor following hottest winter days on record|
Published on Feb 27, 2019
An "apocalyptic" blaze took all night to extinguish on Saddlewoth Moor in West Yorkshire.
Firefighters said it was one of the worst cases of moorland fire they had ever had to deal with. At its height more than 35 firefighters were required to quell the flames.
No injuries were reported though local residents were advised to keep away and shut their windows. The fire follows the two hottest winter days ever recorded in the UK.
