The massive Mosul operation, conducted by Iraqi forces and the US-led coalition in mid-summer, put an end to the terrorists’ three-year hold over the city. Regional officials say that 90% of all territory in both Iraq and Syria that ISIS previously controlled has now been retaken. But liberation came at a very high price.
