Parisians woke up on Saturday (June 4) to the news that the River Seine has stabilised.
Officials say the waters are slowly receding after reaching a 34-year high of 6.1 metres above their normal level on Friday (June 3).
But the floods are still making their impact felt: several rail lines were shut at the start of the weekend and up to 17,000 homes in and around the capital still had no electricity.
