Migrant boat capsizes in Med, 500 Libyans fight for lives amid Italian navy rescue op
Some 500 asylum seekers were sailing from the Libyan coast to Sicily, Italy, when their boat capsized. The Italian coastguard provided them with lifejackets, and managed to rescue them from the water and take them to safety.

The captain of the Italian navy boat that rescued 562 people in the Mediterranean has described how he tried to prevent the boat from capsizing. The trawler overturned apparently as a result of people on board rushing to one side after spotting a rescue ship. So far five people have been found dead.
