|Moment child in stroller is blown onto London Tube tracks caught on CCTV |
British Transport Police released CCTV footage on Monday that showed a child in a pushchair being blown onto electrified train tracks at a London Underground station.
A sudden gust of wind in the tunnel blew the pushchair onto the tracks just seconds after a Tube train had departed Goodge Street station in north London.
The images also showed a woman leaping on to the tracks to rescue the child - hauling the pushchair up to a man standing on the platform just moments before another train arrived.
Authorities said the incident on 23 July occurred when a man placed the pushchair at the base of a staircase next to the platform before going to help other people with their luggage.
CCTV footage shows the moment a child in a buggy was blown on to the tracks at a London Underground station, just seconds before a train arrived. The frightening footage released by British Transport Police, a couple are seen leaving the pushchair at the bottom of the stairs close to a platform while they went to assist other family members. But, a strong gust of wind blew the unattended buggy carrying the child on to the tracks with an incoming train moments away from arriving. After realising what had happened, the child's panic-stricken mother can be seen rushing on to the tracks to carry the baby and the pushchair back on to the platform. Police are attempting to trace the couple involved to ensure the child did not suffer any injuries in the incident. Report by Claire Lomas
