The Department of Defense did not provide adequate oversight and tracking for nearly 750,000 weapons purchased for Afghan security forces, according to a new report by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction. Fearing that potentially tens of thousands of arms may have fallen into the hands of insurgent and other non-allied forces, the report calls for a revamping of the tracking process to ensure safety and accountability. Lindsay France discusses the implications of the findings with RT’s Anastasia Churkina.
