Israel has agreed to a five-hour ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid to Gaza after nine days of rocket and missile exchanges.
A spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces said that the temporary truce would take place between 10 am and 3 pm local time on Thursday. He added that "any attempt to take advantage of the ceasefire will be retaliated".
It is a brief calm in the storm of deadly air strikes and rocket attacks between Israel and Hamas.
A temporary ceasefire is underway, with both sides agreeing to a UN request to stop fighting for five hours on humanitarian grounds.
Earlier, Israeli forces said they thwarted a bid by Palestinian militants to infiltrate a kibbutz, by means of an underground tunnel from Gaza. Several gunmen were killed.
