Thirty-two people have been injured after a train derailed, hit a platform and landed on an escalator and stairs in Chicago. The train came to a standstill at the city's O'Hare International Airport at around 3am on Monday morning. Fire chiefs say anyone on the escalator would have been seriously injured or worse if they had been in the way of the moving train. A passenger on the train, Denise Adams, said she heard a "boom" and found the train up the escalator. "I was on the fifth or sixth car of the train and I heard a boom," Adams said. "When I got off the train, the train was all the way up the escalator." Adams said there was "a lot of panic" as it was difficult to get people off the train. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the derailment and working out how fast it was going. Report by Ashley Fudge.
