Clashes continue to rage between government troops and Muslim rebels after a peace deal was broken. Muslim rebels are holding scores of hostages and using them as human shields in the southern Philippine city of Zamboanga, demanding international mediation.
A major operation is underway in the Philippines to free 150 people held hostage for a second day by seperatist rebels.Some 200 armed fighters are being surrounded by government soldiers backed by tanks. Al Jazeera's Jamela Alindogan reports from the front line in the battle for Zamboanga.
